The Bible says that it is a world of unrighteousness, a fire, a stain, a restless evil, a deadly poison, a power that is nearly uncontrollable. Here is help in transforming our tongues from a formidable foe into a life-giving friend.

The work of pastors to build and maintain fences for the church involves knowing vital distinctions in doctrine, seeing key points of entry for error, understanding hallmarks of those who destroy fences, and employing principles in dealing with broken fences.

The pastor’s burden is to so handle the word of God that he will be able to present himself to God as one approved and build up his people into the image of Christ.

The pastor’s calling is to guard the gospel by wisely building theological fences around the doctrine we have received.

Preachers must not only focus on the content of their message but also on the manner in which they convey that message, especially concerning the doctrine of eternal punishment.
